Day 2
Auschwitz museum & concentration camp The comfort of the present is torn apart as you are met with the frigid kiss of a dark history. Trudging on the snow leading into the Auschwitz concentration camp you look at the ground and see the imprints of your own footsteps and the trail left by your fellow travellers. Each footstep in the snow marks a desire to discover and learn. But throughout the years of the camps duration between 1940 and 1945, each footstep left in the snow was a step closer to death and demise. The fate of the prisoners would remain enclosed behind the barbed wire- their trail left in the snow never to be re-traced. Living in the shadow of the Polish capital Warsaw, Krakow is unknown to many. Secrets of the past stretch across the onion domed rooftops, humble locals stroll through the old town below and the warm scent of polish cuisine floats through the crisp winter air.
Eastern Europe awaits as i prepare to experience a totally different culture while battling subzero temperatures: Krakow, Poland: January 15 until January 20, 2016 Departure time: 7:45pm Expected arrival time: 11:20pm The small city of York is enclosed by the city's medieval walls, which date back to 71 AD when the Romans founded the northern Yorkshire town.
