Day three:
Life as a local in Brugge Renting a bicycle for the day i set off on a ride to a nearby village, Damme, but i also set off on an even greater journey to the heart of local life as a Belgian. Cycling through the Belgian countryside and into the medieval streets of Damme and Brugge, tasting local cuisine and learning my first few phrases of Flemish, the British culture that i have been so accustomed to over the last three months now seems so distant.

Day two:
Brugge, off the beaten path Climbing the top of the Belfort Tower, visiting the Beguinage, strolling through Minnewater Park and exploring the outskirts of Bruges which holds the town's gateways and windmills. Oozing with character and festive charm, romanesque churches tower over waves of crow stepped gable roofs, while on the ground, Christmas markets and endless lines of chocolate stalls create the perfect Belgian getaway.
I have been fortunate to spend the lead up to Christmas in Manchester, home to the ninth best Christmas market display in Europe and crowned the best in the UK by voters from across the continent.
